In my latest edition of Baby Talk, I stumbled upon the following recipe. It's SO tasty AND good for you (bonus points!) Plus I've been looking for a few fun ways to satisfy my insane fruit cravings, and I think I've done it. This drink is awesome!! If you're a fruit smoothie fan you just HAVE to try this and let me know what you think.

Super Smoothie
Combine in blender:
1/4 c frozen blueberries
Combine in blender:
1/4 c frozen blueberries
1/4 c frozen raspberries
1/2 banana
1/2 banana
2 to 3 frozen strawberries
1/4 c vanilla yogurt
1/4 c vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup milk
I substituted organic fat-free french vanilla yogurt for a twist. Only problem is that the yogurt has 33g sugar/serving and that's a lot! I don't know if the sugar content would be less if you used regular or light yogurt. I'll have to read the labels more carefully during my next shopping trip to find out. I also added a light whip cream topper to Gabe's smoothie for an all around creamier, sweeter taste. I loved it without the whip cream, but the boys seemed to prefer the sweeter version (go figure). And of course you can tweak the fruit to your liking. With the recipe as is, I think I would have preferred more of a strawberry taste, so next time I make it, I'll just add a few more strawberries. I plan on enjoying this smoothie during many of the remaining summer days. And this heat already?!?! It's going to be a HOTTTTT summer =)

Use plain yogurt and it won't add so much sugar. Also, you can add some greens (spinach). I know it sounds gross, but you can't really taste it, and you are adding veggies to your already good for you smoothie! Extra greens are super good for you!!!
Add some OJ and you've basically got an orange Julius. One question though, what do you use to smooth your smoothies? Some people have special blenders only for that. Our blender just isn't that great or powerful.
Jenn, spinach!?!? Iono...I would have to be brave. VERY brave. And you're prolly right about plain yogurt...I thought of that.
Hurd,I'm def putting in OJ then. I LOVE Orange Julius. And I have the cheapest blender money can buy, so my smoothies are kinda seedy :) I don't mind tho...still tastes good imho.
