I bought Gabe a pair of $30.00 Van's sneakers last night on our date...so sue me.
(He's one of my many weaknessess)
We had a WONDERFUL time on our date!!! Went to Pizza Hut and had some good pizza, walked around in the mall and bought Gabe a lot of clothes, and saw a movie. Get this: For the very first time we were the ONLY ones in the theater. Now that can say one of two things...or who knows....maybe both. It could mean that the movie is so stupid people won't go to see it, or it could mean Wednesday night is a really weird night to go to the moives. I'm gonna go with the Wednesday night reason ;) All in all it was a refreshing time, and something that we really need to make a point of doing on a regular basis. At Bethany, they always really emphasized the importance of taking a weekly date night with your spouse, and like good, hopeful students we nodded our heads and dreamed of the day. Now we're lucky to get out alone once every 6 months. We need to improve in that department. Babysitters are hard to come by in these parts.
And it's pretty sad when a "fun" evening with your spouse consists of snuggling on the couch watching epidsodes of Seinfield and Everybody Loves Raymond (our two favorites). Oh what a different dynamic children and ministry can bring to a marriage.

So Sue Me

I know you think that just watching TV shows at home is lame but that is still quaility time with you husband. No where, at least that I know of, are there any rules of what a "date" is. My dad and step-mom go on a date every Saturday but their date doesn't always consist of what America thinks of as a date. They sometimes just run errands together or they chapparone a dance at church. A date can even be serving in a ministry together. I hope this helps. Please don't be discouraged that you only get to go on an "Americanized" date every 6 months, look at the small things and times that God gives the two of you. :)
God Bless,
Beckie
